TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Elders living with brain changes, like dementia, were able to have a day of peace and relaxation with the help of some special friends.
Signature Health Care in Terre Haute held an event Sunday where residents living with the condition and their families could spend time with goats and alpacas.
Those with Signature Health Care said those living with brain changes find more difficulty being out in public, so they brought the outside to them.
The Vigo County 4-H brought the alpacas and goats and they said the animals are a perfect way to help the elders relax.
It can help emotionally a lot with those who haven’t experienced it or it’s a very calming process. These animals, they base their emotions off of ours. So if they are all calm, then everyone else will be calm and it’s a great feeling,” said Maya Nagy with Vigo County 4-H.
The day also included other activities such as bobbing for apples and craft making.
