TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Diesel fans head to the Vigo County Fairgrounds for day one of the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza.
Melissa Kellett, director of marketing for Scheid Diesel, says this weekend diesel fans can enjoy drag racing and truck pulls, along with over events.
The event starts again Saturday at 8 A.M. and lasts until 11 P.M.
During Scheid Diesel, the Terre Haute Police Department and Indiana State Police will step up their patrols.
Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse says off-duty deputies will also monitor parking lots.
Plasse says he does not anticipate any issues this weekend, but he wants to make sure the event is fun and safe.
Kellett says after lots of preparation she is excited to welcome diesel fans to Terre Haute.
“It’s a great feeling that we not only have local workers coming in and helping our community alone. We have people across the United States coming to Terre Haute, Indiana,” Kellett said.
The cost to attend day-two of the extravaganza is $40.
Kellett says some staff and community members will clean-up trash along U.S. 41 and near local businesses after the event ends.
