After budget cuts required a short hiatus the City Art Project Grant Awards are back, and nine different organizations were awarded those funds on Thursday.
Projects that were given the grant vary from theater programs, orchestras, sculpture projects, and more.
23,500 dollars was awarded between the nine organizations and as each group accepted their award they expressed how needed the funds are in order to keep the arts alive in our community.
Jon Robeson, Arts Illiana says, “Civic pride. The arts really help develop civic pride. It works with community and economic development. It has a reason for people to get together and the arts can be a lot of fun to do that.”
Some of the projects receiving this grant are already underway and we will continue to see the projects pop up through the end of the year.
