2 seriously injured in side-by-side vs. motorcycle crash

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Two people were seriously injured Saturday when a side-by-side overturned, striking the motorcycle they were riding.

Lonnie Soliday, 60, of Terre Haute was driving a motorcycle westbound into a 90 degree curve at 450W when a side-by-side driven by Rowdy Pierson, 36, of Farmersburg was traveling eastbound into the curve.

Authorities said Pierson was driving too fast, causing the side-by-side to overturn, striking Soliday’s motorcycle.

Soliday was transported by helicopoter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment of serious injuries. A passenger on the motorcycle, Denise Soliday, 59, of Terre Haute, was transported to a Regional Hospital in Terre Haute. Both were listed in stable condition.

Pierson and a passenger, Nicole Pierson, 33, of Farmersburg, sustained minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene.

The Vigo County Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident.
