TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Friday evening, a local community held its third annual Christmas tree lighting.
It happened at Gold Medal Park in the 12 Points neighborhood.
Mayor Duke Bennett had the honor of lighting the tree.
Those in attendance had a chance to enjoy Christmas music and take photos with Santa.
A diaper drive was also held benefiting Covered With Love.
Members of the 12 Points Revitalization say it’s their goal to spread holiday cheer in their neighborhood.
“It’s very exciting to see 12 Points come alive. I’ve lived here 60 plus years and it’s just rejuvenating, people are getting involved, they’re investing in this part of the community,” said Susan Mardis, 12 Points Revitalization.
Mardis says plans are to continue this tradition next year.
