Technology Matters

NASA astronaut Christina Koch snapped this photo of Cape Canaveral from the International Space Station.

She says the next people in rockets will be coming to the ISS. The people after them aiming for the moon. In 2022 we plan a manned test flight around the moon. President Trump has asked NASA to put Americans back on the moon by 2024.

Beyond the moon is Mars. Scientists may have found a way to make Mars livable.

The idea is to use an insulating material called ‘silica aerogel.’

It could be used to build domes or biospheres. This would block radiation, control temperatures and allow for photosynthesis.

Mars is the most habitable planet in our solar system besides Earth.

Silica aerogel is incredibly insulating having protected instruments on Mars Spirit and Opportunity rovers.

It will be tested in Antarctica.

Back on earth and less technical…BMW with it’s first electric Mini-Cooper.

It has an added electric motor and battery and will go 170-miles on a charge.

36-thousand-dollars, available by the end-of-the-year.

One day you can leave the driving to your Uber pilot.

The company continuing a push into flying vehicles.

Right now one route between JFK and a lower Manhattan heliport. Thirty minutes compared to two-hours by car. Two-hundred-dollars.

Don’t look for an Uber helicopter anytime soon.

We’ve gone from Mars, to flying Uber’s and now scooters.

Uber testing a feature to show you where you can hop on a bike or scooter.

E-scooters and other eco-friendly transportation options are growing in popularity.

If the testing is successful…the app feature will be rolled out in the months ahead. Something to keep tabs on.
