Technology Matters-Hip Hop

Technology Matters

If you haven’t heard, I’ll dispense with the bad news, sad news, first.

Apple is discontinuing the ipod Nano and Shuffle.

You can find them in stores, but no new ones are being made.

If you live in Terre Haute you can make a run for the border next year thanks to Lyft and Taco Bell.

Lyft routes customers to the nearest Taco Bell for a free taco during their ride.  The two teamed up since they share a lot of customers.

Oh, you might want to make that Lyft call on your KFC phone, but it only works if you’re in China.  I can’t explain these things.

Google is celebrating the 44th anniversary of Hip-Hop with a one-of-a-kind Google doodle.

It lets you try your hand at the turn-tables.

The clip features former YO-MTV Raps star ‘Fab-Five Freddy’ — and a tutorial on how to make your own music.

Hip-Hop officially began on August 11th 19-73.  That’s when ‘DJ Kool Herc’ threw a back-to-school party in the Bronx.

Instead of playing full songs…he played only instrumental sections…what’s known as the “breaks.”

Herc used two turntables to keep the music going — while his bud Coke-La-Rock rhymed over the breaks

Now I’ve frightened everyone with my knowledge of Hip-Hop.

At the world championship for video game players, a robot won.

Bots are typically considered inferior players to humans.

The winning bot taught itself how to play.

Tech researcher Elon Musk says artificial intelligence is more of a threat than North Korea.

    I don’t remember a computer going crazy.

    (2001: A Space Odyssey)

“Open the pod bay doors, Hal.”

    “I’m sorry Dave.  I’m afraid I can’t do that.”
