MATTOON, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon reported a patient has tested positive for COVID-19.
According to hospital public relations director Patty Peterson, the patient was treated in the hospital emergency room Friday.
“The ER knew the patient was arriving,” Peterson said in a written statement. “The patient was met in the parking lot, provided personal protective equipment and brought in through a back entrance to avoid contact with people in the ER reception area.”
The patient, who was only identified by the hospital as living in the SBL 10-county service area, is now at home on self-quarantine.
The 10-county service area includes: Coles, Cumberland, Clark, Douglas, Edgar, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Moultrie and Shelby counties.
In his latest address, Gov. JB Pritzker included Cumberland County in the list of counties with confirmed cases.
SBL has implemented visitor restrictions.
“Patients will be allowed only one support person during a clinic or hospital visit,” Peterson said. “If additional family members are involved in the care, they can be informed about the care via a phone call.”
