When a new mom cannot breastfeed or may not produce enough milk to support her growing baby, Daviess Community Hospital can help. The Milk Bank thrives on donations from moms who have extra milk to share. Potential donors provide complete medical and lifestyle histories and undergo blood tests similar to the screening process used at blood banks.
Donated milk is pasteurized to kill any bacteria or viruses. Before the pasteurized milk is dispensed, bacteriological testing is done by an independent lab to ensure its safety.
If you are interested in getting or donating breast milk contact the Milk Bank at 317-536-1670 or visit them online at www.themilkbank.org.
