TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Hoosiers have been winning big bucks with Powerball since the drawings started 30 years ago.

The Powerball game has produced some of the biggest wins in lottery history, including the world record $1.586 billion jackpot in January 2016.

Indiana had the very first Powerball jackpot winner in 1992 and leads the nation in Powerball jackpot wins with 39.

In the last 30 years, Powerball has sold nearly 400 winning jackpot tickets, more than 2,400 one-million dollar tickets, and 1.75 billion overall prize winning tickets sold.

In August 2021, Powerball launched a new Monday drawing, which expanded the weekly lineup of Powerball drawings to three nights a week: Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Those drawings can be seen at 10:59 p.m. ET on WTWO Television.
