Lawrence County hospital opens COVID-19 tent at emergency entrance

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — With the rapidly increasing coronavirus-positive cases in Lawrence and surrounding counties, Lawrence County Memorial Hospital constructed a tent at its emergency department entrance.

Anyone in need of emergency care due to COVID-19 symptoms should go directly to the Emergency Department Tent for assessment. Those showing any signs of COVID-19 should not enter through the main hospital entrance.

COVID-19 symptoms include:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Look for emergency warning signs for COVID-19. If someone is showing any of these signs,
seek emergency medical care immediately:

  • Trouble breathing
  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
  • New confusion
  • Inability to wake or stay awake
  • Pale, gray, or blue-colored skin, lips, or nail beds, depending on skin tone
