Jesse Walker is a native of Vigo County and a graduate of West Vigo High school. He attended Indiana State University and graduated with a B.S. in Physical Geography in 1988. He studied Meteorology, Climatology, Oceanography and Astronomy. He began his career at WTWO in December 1985 as the weekend weather person. In the summer of 1988, after graduation, he took over duties as the anchor and meteorologist of the morning show and the midday meteorologist. In September of 1990, he became the chief meteorologist and has been in that role since.

He received his Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association in 1986 and the Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society in 1991, at that time he was the only TV meteorologist in the state of Indiana to hold both seals at the same time. In the spring of 2007, Jesse upgraded his AMS seal to the CBM seal. The CBM Seal supersedes the AMS Seal of Approval and requires successful completion of a comprehensive examination on theoretical meteorology, operational meteorology, forecasting, severe weather, safety information and general science.

Jesse is especially interested in severe weather and tornadoes and speaks to many groups during the spring and summer about severe weather and safety tips. Jesse won the Best Weathercast in Indiana by the Indiana Broadcasters Association in 2011 and 2012 and 2013. Jesse Walker was voted the Best TV Personality in the Wabash Valley in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021,2022 and again in 2023 in the Terre Haute Tribune-Star Readers’ Choice Awards.
