WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Vigo County Public Library kicked off it’s West Summer Celebration on Saturday at the IGA in West Terre Haute.

Library workers gave away free snow cones and books to residents who stopped by. They visited five different locations around West Terre Haute as a way to promote summer reading while social distancing.

“It was really important for us to do the West Summer Celebration because it’s a way to celebrate the West Terre Haute community. I think that our West branch is so lucky, because it’s more like a small, neighborhood library,” Sarah Trover, Project and Event Manager for Vigo County Public Library said.

While both library branches are now open for residents to use, summer programs are continuing to happen online. For more information about Vigo County Public Library changes, visit here.
