Clay County, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Lots of kids hit the basketball court today for the Junior Hoops Tour at the Clay County YMCA.

The Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever along with Pacers Sports and Entertainment hosted the event. It included basketball drills and games.

All 150 spots for the free basketball clinic were filled within 24 hours of registration opening. The event for kids ages 6-14 was fun for all regardless of their basketball skill level.

“It’s a way for kids during the summer to stay active, stay out of trouble,” said Clay County YMCA Sports Director Kyler Rhodes. “Anything with the Pacers and Fever involved, it’s exciting for the kids.”

“We want to be able to give that chance for all the kids to be able to learn a little bit more about basketball, get better with their skills,” Associate Director of Community Engagement for Pacers Sports and Entertainment Richie Smith said. “Our main thing is to have fun and get them to love basketball.”

The event was sponsored by the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at Ascension St. Vincent as well as Gatorade.
