PALESTINE, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — One woman in the Wabash Valley celebrated a very special birthday Tuesday, her 108th birthday to be exact!
A birthday celebration was held for Mary Laughead at Home Plate restaurant in Palestine, Illinois.
A lot of family and friends were there to help her celebrate. WTWO/WAWV’s Jesse Walker also stopped by to wish Mary a happy birthday.
She said she isn’t sure what the secret to a long life is, but she says she always worked hard and traveled a lot.
“We had a ford car that you had to crank and we went all the way to the west coast,” Said Mary. “I’ve been in every state except North Dakota. I’ve even been to Hawaii.”
