TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — It’s kitten season!

The time of year when animal shelters see an influx of kittens in their care, and that’s why the Terre Haute Humane Society will hold a “kitten shower” Saturday, April 23.

They’ll be collecting items like canned kitten food, kitten milk replacement, heating pads and bottles. They will also have discounted adoption fees for adult cats.

Workers will also be providing visitors with information on how to become a kitten foster home.

“Kitten season is going on, it runs from May through August. When we get an influx of mama cats, kittens that need fosters,” Society Cat Caregiver Sara Sherrill said. “We get a lot of kittens that don’t have their mammas and they need foster homes, so it’s really important for us to have the supplies so that we are able to take care of them.”

The kitten shower will run from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Terre Haute Humane Society.
