Many different types of surgeries can be performed at Horizon Health’s newly expanded Surgery Department in Paris.

“All of the basic things people would think, appendectomies, hernia repair, but we do some much more,” said Director of Surgical Services Kimberly Sweitzer. “We do advanced laparoscopic procedures. We do a bariatric procedure here, We do Orthopedic procedures of all kinds involving joints. Podiatry urology, gynecology. Really more than what people can even think of.”

Located inside the same building as Paris Community Hospital, the Surgery Department contains up to date equipment and state of the art technology.

The same type of equipment and technology you’ll find at big city hospitals.

“The most important thing we can do is bring the standard of car, the same level of care you would get in a big city hospital, in our hospital here,” said Dr. Yaniv Cozacov.

Having an up to date surgery facility allows people to stay close to home for treatment.

“Convenience is the number one thing. People can come here and by far get to see a specialty surgeon much quicker than they can at larger facilities,” said Sweitzer.

Many of the surgeries are performed here, and are done on an outpatient basis; others require a hospital stay.

But staff here, want you to know no matter what kind of surgery you receive, you’re in good hands.

“That’s one of the things I like most about this hospital, we really have good care. The attitude toward the patient. Our hospital, our employees are part of the community and we are part of the community so its like taking care of our friends and family,” said Dr. Cozacov.

Taking care of friends and family, and helping them to recover.

Horizon Health will hold an open house to show off it’s surgery services, it’s schedule for Wednesday, November 28, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
