The mother of a murdered Illinois girl makes her first court appearance Tuesday.
Ciara DeRyke is charged with obstructing a peace officer. She's accused of lying to police during the investigation into the disappearance and death of her daughter, Willow. The Effingham County State's Attorney says investigators don't believe Ciara was involved in her daughter's murder. Her brother Justin DeRyke is accused of Willow's murder.
The misdemeanor charge carries a jail term of up to one year in prison.
DeRyke will be back in court next week. Her bond remains at $75,000.
