Vote on Vigo County Schools' Pool Delayed

Terre Haute Parks Department Board did not vote on Vigo County School Corporation's proposal for a pool in Voorhees Park. They are expected to call a special meeting next week to vote on the plan.
A vote on Vigo County School Corporation's proposal for a new pool is temporarily delayed. The Terre Haute Parks Board received the school's proposal for a new pool on Monday. They say the board hasn't had enough time to review the plan.

Representatives from Vigo County Schools say the drawings and plans for the $19.8 million project are complete. The school corporation hopes to lease land in Voorhees park for 99 years at the cost of just $1.

"It sounds like we're moving forward," said Terre Haute Parks Superintendent Eddie Bird. "The board is for this idea, and I don't really want to hold up the school corporation on what they need to do to move forward so I think the board is for it. I know the mayor is for it. I'm for it."

Terre Haute City Parks board will call a special meeting next week to vote on the proposal.
