A unique program is underway that helps you lose weight - and give back to the community at the same time.

The second annual Lose-a-Ton, Give-a-Ton program is sponsored by the Vigo County YMCA, Vigo County School Corporation, and United Way of the Wabash Valley.

For every pound participants lose during the challenge, they're asked to donate a pound of food to the Vigo County Schools backpack program.

Organizers say it's a great way to keep the community healthy - and help children throughout the community.

"The support we received from the valley was awesome, people stepped up, businesses and individuals alright, they really did a lot to help us. When we were finished we raised over 2100 pounds and it's on your own, you're taking initiative to lose way to healthier you," said Ryan Daffer of the Vigo County YMCA.

The goal of the program is to get at least 200 people to lose ten pounds.

It runs through March, and anyone can participate.

Just head over to the Vigo County YMCA to sign up.
