Vigo County Schools Get in Holiday Spirit

The Vigo County School Corporation kicked off their 2nd Annual Festival of Trees on Friday. Students at each school decorated Christmas trees. Anyone can buy a raffle ticket to win their favorite tree. Proceeds will go toward the Shoe Bus and Weekend Backpacks for VCSC students.

The Vigo County School Corporation is getting in the holiday spirit.

The 2nd Annual Festival of Trees fundraiser began Friday at Honey Creek Mall.

Students from Vigo County Schools decorated trees, and you can buy raffle tickets to win your favorite one.

Proceeds from the fundraiser go toward the Shoe Bus and Weekend Backpacks to benefit VCSC students.

"We're trying to raise awareness for the students in need in the Vigo County School Corporation. We've got better than 50 percent of our population that receives free and reduced lunch so we don't want to see our students go without and this is a way of supporting those programs," said McLean High School principal, Scotia Brown.

The fundraiser runs until December 7. Tickets are just $1 or you can buy six for $5.
