Valley Native Wins Innovation Award for Company

A Terre Haute native's anti-bullying software has won an Innovation Award from a non-profit organization promoting new business development in Indiana.
Bruce Canal founded Social Net Watcher, a program to monitor social networking sites for comments regarding bullying.

The organization Centric awarded "SoNet" this year's Indiana Innovation Award.

Canal explained to the Tribune-Star that the system looks for phrases related to bullying and notifies the school administration.

This program can also help schools with the new Indiana anti-bullying legislation which took affect July 1. Schools are now required to investigate all reports of bullying and submit a report each year.

Social Net Watcher went into production in January.
