On Tuesday, jury selection got underway in the case of the drunk driving death of a Terre Haute native.

Travis Ley is charged with two counts of driving while intoxicated resulting in serious bodily injury.

Last year, Ley's vehicle hit a motorcycle. The accident killed the rider, 22-year-old Leyland Owens.

Police say Ley's blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

In today's opening statements the state argued the case was simple, and they will prove Ley was under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the accident.

The defense countered, saying the case is complicated, and they don't believe the state can prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt.
