Terre Haute Tradition Feeds Nearly 1,000 on Thanksgiving

Members of St. Patrick's Church in Terre Haute and the family of Ruth-Marie Bauer Newport continued their holiday tradition of feeding hundreds of residents. Ruth-Marie Bauer Newport organized the holiday dinner up until she passed away in 2002. Now, her family continues the tradition, to make sure that people receive a warm meal and feel included.
The spirit of Thanksgiving continues throughout the Valley.

Now, her family continues the tradition, to make sure that people receive a warm meal and feel included.

"It's a great thing to do because it is an awesome way to show everybody everything that they have to be thankful. And to be able to pass that along, and of course it today is giving so we're giving back and it's an awesome thing to do," said organizer Teresa Shaffer.

Officials estimate they served nearly 1,000 people today.
