Sheriff Ewing Swears in Two New Deputies

These new members of the force actually have some law enforcement background. The Vigo County Sheriff's Department is also looking to hire four more deputies. You can apply online, now through January 15.
New deputies are officially on the job in Vigo County.

Sheriff Greg Ewing swore in the two officers on Monday and gave them their badges.

These new members of the force actually have some law enforcement background.

Don Lark spent nearly a decade with the West Terre Haute Police, and Jeremy Thomas worked at the Indiana Department of Correction.

"Law enforcement's always been a goal of mine, a dream of mine. Something I'm interested in and something I've always wanted to do. I like to help other people and serve the public," said Thomas.

"Just really serving the community to the best of my ability. Being there when they need me and helping out wherever I can," said Lark.

Sheriff Ewing adds: "I remember mine [swearing-in ceremony] 21 years ago, and this is something that the officers will take with them for the rest of their lives, as well as their families. So it's very rewarding for me to see that excitement."

The Vigo County Sheriff's Department is still looking to hire four more deputies.

You can apply now through January 15. For an application, click here.
