Organizers say it's an educational event, that also shows suport for those who fought for our freedoms.

"Is a salute to what they did for us, for our country, and the service they perform as part of the greatest generation. It's our way to say thank you an in turn we are proud to see them come out and they're very appreciative of what we've done here," said museum curator Jim Osborne.

This is the sixth year for the Salute to WWII Veterans event, and officials say nearly 100 veterans attended the festivities.
