It's a weekend of firsts for many Rose-Hulman students.

Faculty and staff welcomed in the over 500 new freshman on campus Saturday afternoon.

Students and their family members filled the Hulbert Arena, to kick off their first year as college students.

Officials say they are excited for what this year hold - and for what these new students can bring to the engineering profession.

"Just looking forward to the start of classes, because I think that's really when the energy kicks off. This is kind of a day of convergence from names and numbers to actual faces who will continue
to be part of the Rose-Hulman and family for the next four years," said Rose-Hulman President Jim Conwell.

This is the second largest incoming class in Rose-Hulman history.

Classes start on Thursday.
