The first match of the day saw Transylvania tangle with No. 1 seed Earlham in Richmond.
The Pioneers received their only goal from junior midfielder Stephen Willoughby (Richmond, Ky./Madison Central) in the 19th minute of action. Earlham answered with a second half goal to knot the score at 1-1. After a pair of overtime periods, the Pioneers advanced by defeating the hosts 4-2 on penalty kicks.
Rose-Hulman rolled to an impressive 3-0 victory over No. 3 seed Hanover. Rose senior forward Drew Belk (Jasper, Ind./H.S.) scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lead the Engineers.
With the win, Rose-Hulman has earned the right to host Transylvania in the HCAC championship match at 1:00 PM Saturday in Terre Haute. The winner will receive the HCAC's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament.
