Terre Haute Police, Vigo County Sheriff's deputies and Indiana State Troopers are teaming up for an Operation Blitz.

It'll run through December 1.

Last year during this same time, there were 12 crashes - and two fatalities - in Vigo County alone.

Agencies are using saturation patrols and DUI check-points, and asking drivers to be smart and safe as well.

"We ask you to do your part in being safe, sober and driving respectfully," said Indiana State Police Sgt. Joe Watts.

Vigo County Sheriff Greg Ewing adds: "Make sure that you're spending that time with your family and friends around the dinner table and not in an ER. Please do not drink and drive. And if you choose to, we'll be out there."

Officers are focusing on drunk drivers and not buckling up.

If you see this on the roadway, dial 911 immediately.

Also make sure you and your child are buckled up. To find the correct age/weight/height restrictions for child car seats, click here.
