Operation Troop Treats Back in Action

Kool Smiles in Terre Haute is again sponsoring Operation Troop Treats. For every 25 pieces of unopened candy your kids turn in, they get a brand new toy from Toys R Us. The candy that's collected will then be sent in care packages to troops overseas.
Your trick or treaters may have collected quite a stash of candy this Halloween, and a new program hopes to take some of it off your hands.

Kool Smiles in Terre Haute is again sponsoring Operation Troop Treats.

For every 25 pieces of unopened candy your kids turn in, they get a brand new toy from Toys R Us.

The candy that's collected will then be sent in care packages to troops overseas.

Officials say it's a win-win, kids get a fun new toy and everyone's teeth stay nice and clean.

"You always want to promote healthy habit all year round, and I think this time especially kids are candy candy candy. This also shows them that candy all the time isn't good, but you can bring it in and get a toy and then it also helps out the people that help us out the most which would be the troops," said Patty Downey, clinical team leader.

Last year, the Terre Haute office collected nearly 80 pounds of candy to send over seas.

You have through Wednesday to take part.
