After a nice weekend of more seasonable temperatures and sunshine, we now move into a heat wave with some of the hottest days we've seen all summer. A ridge or large area of high pressure is currently hovering over the eastern U.S. and will continue to do so through this last week of August. This will lead to continual heating with highs in the 90s and heat indices around 100º. With this strong area of high pressure, rain stays mainly out of the forecast through the week. The next best shot of rain holds off until later this weekend when a front moves nearby; even then chances are low. Try to stay cool out there, everyone!
