Saint Mary-of-the-Woods hosted a STEM conference for sixth through eighth grade girls.

It's one of only two in the state, and featured 11 different workshops - giving these future Pomeroys a look at all the careers that involve Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

"We want them to get that excitement during middle school so that they choose classes during high school, like the event science classes in the advanced math classes which will allow them to pursue STEM oriented college degrees, and STEM oriented careers," said education professor Dr. Anneliese Payne.

All of the experts who took part on Saturday are mathematicians, engineers and scientists who live and work right here in the Wabash Valley.
