Linton Fire Department Facing Cuts

The city of Linton faces budget cuts that could begin as early as November.
Weeks after the Linton Police Department was threatened by the possible loss of two officers, the city's fire department now risks losing an employee.

The Greene County Daily World reports the Linton Fire Department learned last week that it might also be affected by the city's budget cuts.

The city council met last month to discuss possible cuts to the police department. Property tax caps have sliced funding for the city budget.

Now, the nine member fire department could be cut to eight as early as next month.

In the meantime, Linton City Council will hold another budget meeting on Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. at City Hall. Residents are encouraged to attend.
