The annual Pizza Hut Wabash Valley Classic is just days away from tip-off.

And the Shakamak Lakers are looking to contend for the Classic title after a strong start to the season.

Shakamak will play Linton in the first round, a team they faced last Friday, just eight days before the tournament.

The Lakers have returned many players from last year's team that nearly upset Terre Haute North in the second round of the classic.

Shakamak holds a 3-1 record heading into the tournament.

The Lakers’ only loss came to the powerful Sullivan Golden Arrows in the second game of the season.

Second-year Lakers head coach Steve Brett says having another year under his belt, as well as the experience of his players will be an advantage.
