SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) - The state of Illinois is planning to shift Medicaid eligible retirees to a Medicaid Advantage Plan.
One of the main concerns is the cost of premiums especially given the current state of healthcare in the country. Last year, the state's largest union negotiated with state leaders to try to save money.
The unions agreed to let the state shift retirees to the Advantage Plans, but since that change was announced last week, a lot of retirees have called their lawmakers worried about what the changes could mean.
State Representative Raymond Poe (R) represents a lot of state workers in Springfield. He'll be part of a special hearing on the issue next week. The hearing is a week from Wednesday. Poe encourages any retirees who have questions to come testify at the committee hearing.
