Hundreds from across the country came out to pay their respects.

The 52-year old died of a heart attack December 27.

Mike was a 28-year vet of the force and was set to retire in just a few weeks.

His family says the community's support has shown what an impact Mike has made here in the Wabash Valley.

"To me it showed that as a parent, that apparently we did our job to raise our son to be fair and caring for people. Especially in a job as a state policeman, where you see all the worst that life has to offer," said John Capicik, Mike's father.  "I'll tell you he is going to be very well missed, not just by the folks that he worked with, and the people around him, but his parents, and I'm really proud."

Nearly a thousand people turned out yesterday for Capicik's visitation.

He leaves behind his wife and son.
