Hometown Hero Salute Honors Local Airmen

The 181st Intelligence Wing in Terre Haute held a Hometown Hero Salute Ceremony. 130 airmen were honored, each solider received a plaque commemorating the time they were deployed, and thanking them for serving overseas.
Those protect our country everyday were honored for their service Sunday morning.

But those involved say it's not just about the soldier's sacrifice, but their families, too.

"The way did they know that we have their backs. It's away for everybody to know that we are in complete support of them for their sacrifices that they have made, and it's also support of the family sacrifices and they've made," said Chief Master Sgt. Gilbert Manalo.
   
Terre Haute mayor Duke Bennett added: "Right here in Terre Haute that we have this wonderful facility with all these men and women who choose to protect every single day, this is an honor for me to be able to be there and celebrate with their achievements."

Terre Haute mayor Duke Bennett also attended Sunday's ceremony.

He was  presented with an influence award, for his support to the air guard.
