High Stakes Gambling Rings Busted

Police busted high stakes gambling rings in the Wabash Valley Thursday leading to more than a dozen arrests. Vigo County Prosecutor Terry Modesitt says there was as much as $30,000 on the table at once.
The gambling rings busted in the Wabash Valley are being called high stakes games by Vigo County Prosecutor Terry Modesitt.

Police busted the illegal gambling rings early Thursday morning and arrested 14 people. Police say there's more arrests to come.

The arrests come after a three year investigation.

Officials say they were taking part in sports betting and illegal poker operations around Terre Haute.

"At some points there was $25,000 to $30,000 involved, as far as on the table at once," said Modesitt.

Those arrested now face a variety of felony counts including corrupt business influence, money laundering and professional gambling.
