Rudy Cope dropped off a pair of shoes last week at Sarge's Shoe Repair.

At the time, he didn't realize that he has stashed close to $3,000 in one of the shoes.

Four days later he remembered and rushed back to the store.

He walked in and the owner told him that he just discovered the money inside the shoe and returned all of it.

Cope says he knows this story could've turned out much differently.

"I guess the message to me is there are a lot of good folks out there who do the right thing, and it's an encouragement," Cope said.

Cope offered the good samaritan a monetary reward, but he refused saying "I've been doing good things all of my life."
