Dodging the Undead at Vigo Co. Zombie 5K

Runners had to make their way through the Wabashiki Trail, trying to find the cure to a new disease that is turning everyone into zombies. But it wasn't just a walk in the park. Participants had to make it through several obstacle courses, and dodge the undead.
It was a race for a different kind of cure in West Terre Haute Saturday morning.

It was the first ever Zombie 5K in Vigo County.

"As you just saw everyone running and screaming and having a great time, it's a really fun event. The participants are having a great time, the volunteers are having a great time and everybody is getting active and healthy at the same time," said organizer Ethan Page.  "A lot of people used to run into weights, but now it's more the fun active. How can you get people and do it in a fun way or themed way."

In the end only two made it out with out becoming "infected."

Harrolds Beauty Academy helped make all zombies look the part.

The run will take place again next year on Halloween weekend.

Part of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Vigo County Parks Department.
