Day nursery fund awards $16.5K to local childcare programs

The Terre Haute Day Nursery Endowment Fund of the Wabash Valley Community Foundation has awarded more than $16,500 to local childcare programs.

Several area childcare programs are thankful for some extra help. The organizations have been awarded grants from the Terre Haute Day Nursery Endowment Fund of the Wabash Valley Community Foundation.

More than $16,000 was awarded to seven child care programs. (see list below)

The money will be used for thinks like play areas, scholarships and heating and air conditioning.

Even though the Terre Haute Day Nursery hasn't been operating since 1997, the endowment fund was set up to continue supporting local childcare programs.

The foundation's next application cycle begins in June. Visit their website to find out how to apply.

  • Alternatives for Living and Learning Nursery, $500 for a rocker

  • Indiana State University Early Childhood Center, $500 for outdoor shading & play area

  • Memorial Preschool, $1,000 for scholarships

  • United Childcare, $2,000 for scholarships

  • Valley Child Development Center, $7,000 for heating/air conditioning

  • Vigo County CASA, $3,500 for emergency daycare tuition

  • Woods Daycare, $2,000 for scholarships
