World War II Railroad Car Makes Terre Haute Home

A piece of World War II history is now at home in Terre Haute. The Pullman Troop Sleeper car landed at the Wabash Valley Railroaders Museum early Thursday afternoon.

The car is one of 1,200 built in 1943 to transport troops. After the war, the cars were sold to railroad companies and used to transport materials. In 2012, it was destined for the scrap yard, until officials with the museum fought to bring it to Terre Haute.

The 71-year-old car will remain on display at the local museum.
