A decades-old tradition honored Valley students Saturday afternoon.

It was the 92nd annual Ring Ceremony at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.

The school recognized 81 campus, online, and graduate students who are entering their final year at the Woods.

President Dottie King gave each recipient the onyx and gold ring, which connects them to each and every Woods alum.

"It is a very prestigious, it's very meaningful. It means that you're connected to something greater than yourself. The college is been around for 174 years so it is a very strong sense of community and academic achievement," said Dee Reed of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.

The ceremony dates back to 1922. Each ring is  inscribed with a Latin saying that means "virtue with knowledge united."
