The Terre Haute's Parks Department says ok to a proposal to build a pool in a city park.
Plans for a centralized pool for Vigo County students have been in the works since last summer.
The school corporation says its existing pools are beyond repair.
School officials decided on Voorhees Park for the $9.8 million project and the parks board gave the green light this afternoon
"Now that it's finalized I think the city of Terre Haute and its departments and school corporation should work together, and I think this is an example of us working something out to make Terre Haute better and I think this is going to bring a lot more people to Terre Haute," says Eddie Bird, parks superintendent.
The school corporation will lease the land in Voorhees Park for 25 years with an option for another 25 years.
