Valley Fraternities Pull in Money for Special Olympics

It was a battle of strength in Terre Haute.

We're talking about the annual Fire Truck Pull fundraiser.

The Pi Kappa Alpha chapters at Rose-Hulman and Indiana State University hosted the event.

This marks the sixth year for the pull.

Teams of eight to ten participants competed to see who could pull the truck 100-feet the fastest - all to raise money for the Special Olympics.

Organizers say it's a great way to bring in funds for such a good cause.

"We really like to get the community involved and show that our Greek organizations really do care about the community and this philanthropic idea of giving back to the special Olympics Indiana," said organizer Andrew Kneppers.

Last year's event raised over $7,000 for the Special Olympics.

And it wasn't just people who participated in Saturday's fun - the Chick-Fil-A cow also got in on the action, and helped raise even more money at the Terre Haute restaurant.
