Upgrade Coming to Deming Park

Visitors to a Terre Haute park will soon notice some much needed changes.
Officials say the bathroom in the park is in "bad shape" and is need of an upgrade.

The Terre Haute parks board voted last week to remodel the bathroom.

The project will cost $27,000.

The upgrade will include power washing and painting, installing new sinks, changing tables, and other fixtures.

The bathroom will be compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act regulations after the renovation.

Parks Superintendent, Eddie Bird, says the upkeep of the bathroom is used a lot because it is one of only two in the park system that has heat, "It's one that stays open year round, it gets used quite a bit. Back when I first got here, six years ago, during our master plan, on our survey, one of the biggest things people used in the park was the bathrooms."

The renovation is only expected to last two weeks.
