Terre Haute Campus Bus Route Shut Down for Several Hours

The department typically has three reserve buses to take over, but all of those vehicles were in the process of being repaired.

So officials did have to close the route until one could be fixed.

Students were quickly notified of cancellation, and the bus was up and running again by 1 p.m.

"I think that route has run for seven years and this is the first time we've ever had to actually shut it down for a period of time," said Brad Miller of the Terre Haute Transit Department.  "It's definitely important to us because I don't want to ever have to shut around down, because inconveniences people and we hear about it in spade. So it's not that it something that we try to avoid at all costs."

The Terre Haute Transit Department has ordered six new buses to replace some in their fleet.

They are expected to arrive sometime this spring.
