Strassenfest Helps Club Give Back To Community

The annual Strassenfest is underway in Terre Haute. The Terre Haute German Oberlander Club puts the event on each year. The event offers music and food, and it's also a fundraiser for the club. This event helps them raise money they can put toward projects in the community.

It's a way for organizers to showcase German heritage, but it's also a fundraiser for the club. Events like this help them give back to Terre Haute.

"We like to give back to the community. We have some scholarships that we give to the high school students. We've built shelters in parks. We sponsor sports teams. We just try to be there when people need a little extra help," says club member Nancy Walbring.

Strassenfest will continue on Friday from 11 A.M. to midnight and again on Saturday from 4 P.M. to midnight. It's at 9th and Cherry Streets in downtown Terre Haute. Admission is free.
