Its a statistic police hope to see trend downward in 2014.

Starting Friday, February 28 law enforcement agencies will begin a drunk driving blitz.
   
Indiana State Police are calling it a major crack down on impaired and dangerous driving.
   
Officials say the timing is strategic with a great deal of activity planned in march.
    .
Police want the public to be aware of the crackdown.

"The main thing is to get it out there for safety, maybe to prevent impaired drivers. Give them some possible tips on taking different routes than getting behind the wheel and driving drunk," Jesse Morin, Sullivan Police Chief said.

The enforcement effort will include saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints throughout the entire state.
