Rep. Bucshon Holds ACA Town Hall

Congressman Larry Bucshon is clear on his position about the Affordable Care Act.
Congressman Larry Bucshon is clear on his position about the Affordable Care Act.

"I don't believe at the end of the day this is going to be the end of the solution to meet our goals," Rep. Bucshon said.

But that didn't stop him from hearing from those who support it.

"I'm optimistic, I'm very optimistic. Much like you Doc, I think that we will figure this out. This is a way of evolving to a better place," Mary Ann Conroy, CEO of Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

And those who find the law flawed.

"It's frustrating. I think it was implemented without care and concern, too quickly," Danny Tanoos, VCSC Superintendent said.

The new healthcare marketplace opened for business on October first.

It's allowed millions of americans like Jeffrey Dykes, who signed up in October, to secure affordable health coverage.

"I can't afford to go to the grocery store and buy food because i'm putting out so much in insurance," Dykes said.

But others like Dean Wildin  have fallen between the cracks.

"I'm a retired small business owner and i too am a person who lost their healthcare as of the first of the year.Fortunately i've been able to get other healthcare, not through healthcare.gov," Wildin said.

Small business owners say they've been hit hard by the law as well.

"We suddenly had about 300 people that we thought we were going to have to insure and we were panicked because that cost would have been about double our earning," Scott Womack, owner of Womack Restaurants said.

Issues and concerns to Congressman will take back with him to Washington, hoping to bring about change.

"All of us, I think, have the goal of making sure everyone in our country has quality affordable healthcare," Bucshon said.
